Mission
The mission of the Rheumatology and Balneology Research Center of Aix-les-Bains ( CeRRThA ) is to promote excellence in the field of balneology in rheumatology. We are committed to designing and implementing innovative research projects that meet the clinical needs of patients. Through the development of rigorous protocols and the critical analysis of scientific data, we aspire to provide evidence-based recommendations that guide good care practices.
History
The Centre for Rheumatological and Thermal Research of Aix -les-Bains (CeRRThA) is a research organisation initially created by Aix doctors in the 1920s to monitor the bacteriological quality of the waters of the thermal establishment. It remained active in this form until the 1970s.
We reactivated it in the early 1990s to evaluate the efficacy and tolerance of thermal treatment. We designed a number of evaluation protocols that we were sometimes able to share with colleagues from other stations to conduct multicenter studies.
We are also currently carrying out a synthesis of the work published in the scientific press on thermalism and we are collaborating with the relevant learned societies and patient associations to try to determine in which areas thermal cure is of interest.
